YOUR BELOW GROUND LIVESTOCK – An Agronomy and Range Soil Health Tour June 13-14th, 2017.
Join us for a Field Tour showcasing a five‐year field trial on cover crops and soil health. The tour will include four farms in Pondera County that have incorporated cover crops into dryland cropping systems, experimenting with a variety of plant species in cocktails. Each farm has soil analyses to track trends in soil health and soil biology. The tour includes a farm that has integrated all five principles of soil health in their operation. Two experts in soil health and biology, Dr. Ray Ward/Ward Labs and Marlon Winger, NRCS Regional Soil Health Specialist will be present both days to discuss soil health management in cropping systems and how to measure soil quality. A Range Ramble – A Range Health and Weed Tour June 15-16, 2017 There is a second opportunity to meet Dr. Ray Ward/Ward Labs, Marlon Winger, NRCS Regional Soil Health Specialist, and Rick Caquelin, NRCS Area Range Specialist, at a field tour in Glacier County that will focus on range health. In addition, the weed workshop held on June 16 will be worth 36 pesticide recertification credits for those who are in attendance for the entire day. 2017 Bus Tour to South Dakota and North Dakota, September 12-14, 2017
Coming soon will be the registration for a bus tour to Dakota Lakes, SD, the Menoken Farm and Gabe Brown’s Farm in North Dakota to see soil health in action. Participants will meet with special guests, David Brandt (OH farmer), Ray Archeletta, Soil Health Specialist, and Dr. Allen Williams, founding partner of Grass Fed Beef, LLC and Grass Fed Insights, LLC at the Brown Ranch.
